As a music lover, I’m always looking for new music and innovative sounds around the infinite cluster of music that exists today. In the quest I stumbled upon Camellia Sessions, a record label releasing a series of albums with a cool concept behind them, which they refer to as “Re-Lived” Music. Camellia Sessions has selected classic songs from throughout many decades and features a select lineup of musicians and artists re-recording them with a fresh and contemporary sound. These recordings reminded me of a lot of songs I’ve heard before, mostly in my childhood when my grandparents listened to these classic tracks on the radio, and I must say, these “Re-Lived” tunes give justice to the original songs. The only way to prove it is by listening to the releases:
“Neo.Son” by Neo.Son: Comprised of sultry vocalist Natascha Bessez and electronic music wizard Gabó, Neo.Son’s music is a whole electro lounge experience. They recorded fun, sensual and loungy versions of Buddy Holly’s “Everyday”, Nat King Cole’s “Perfidia”, Donovan’s “Mellow Yellow”, Desi Arnaz’ “Babalu”, Sammy Davis Jr.’s “You Are My Sunshine” and more.

“After Hours” by Charlie Sepúlveda: You should make yourself comfortable for this one. The inviting sound of Charlie Sepúlveda’s trumpet accompanied by a lonesome guitar will make you wish you were on a lounge hanging out with your buddies with a cocktail in hand. Sepúlveda “Re-Lives” classics such as Hoagy Carmichael‘s “Stardust,” Ray Charles‘ “Georgia On My Mind,” Tony Bennett‘s “Skylark” and Xavier Cugat‘s “Cachita.”

“Mambolero Vol. 1” by Mambolero All Stars: This release features updated versions of songs “Re-Lived” with their classic arrangements. The album includes contemporary recordings of Tito Puente‘s “Ran Kan Kan”, Rafael Hernandez‘ “Enamorado De Ti” and Perez Prado‘s “Pianolo.”
