Aurora is an indie pop band formed in Granada by Javier and Julio Bolívar and Carlos Alberto Marques. Two self-released EPs in 2011 let them to be finalists in the major competitions in the country finally performing at Primavera Sound.
In 2013 Aurora released their first album, titled ‘Geminis’ (PIAS Iberia & Latin America 2013). This album was produced by Banin Fraile (Pilotos, Los Planetas) and recorded by Carlos Diaz on the studio Producciones Peligrosas, allowing them to play festivals such as PRIMAVERA SOUND, FIB, Monkey Week ,Festival Do Norte, BIME and also crossing the ocean to play in Colombia (Festival Hermoso Ruido) and Mexico (VIVE LATINO).
‘Geminis was published in Mexico by Terricolas Imbeciles (MX) were the single ‘Transparente‘ begun to gain a foothold in the main independent radio stations. A few months later, they return to Mexico to play at the Vive Latino festival.
In January of 2015 and after some changes in the band, Aurora returns with SILICE, a second job that has been recorded in Montreal Studios (Navarra) with the help of Hans Krüger (Delorean, John Talabot, Columpio asesino … ), remixed by Carlos Diaz and mastered by Yves Roussel. The sound of this album is more raw and minimalist, with a range of eclectic influences. While still maintaining the melodic essence of the group, SILICE represents a change of direction, a search for new challenges.
