Álvaro Díaz has officially established himself as one of the best Hip Hop rappers we have ever seen. His perfomance marks the evoultion of rap en espanol. Puerto Rico is home to “commercial” reggaeton which dominates 99.9% of the urban sound but Álvaro breaks away from the pack delivering what you would expect from GOOD music and real Hip Hop… lyrical impact and stage dominance. We were espcielly impressed by his production sound and smooth delivery that can be classified as the “now” sound in Hip Hop.
We didn’t know what to expect at his showcase, being SXSW you never know if there will be 100 or 1000 people but this was the only show and artist we covered at SXSW 2015. Even though we saw many bands and MC’s this week , none were as noteworthy as Álvaro’s quick performance at Half Step, Austin TX. We only highlight the best in Latin urban music on PulsoBeat, so this was it!
