Stereo. 77 (Alejandro Ramirez) is a DJ, Producer, Crate Digger and Radio Host born in 1977 in Puerto Rico who moved to Central Florida in the mid 80s.

He began his DJ career in 1998 lining up multiple residencies throughout the Central Florida region and opening for such acts as Ben Mono, Joey Beats, Ancient Astronauts, DJ Sabo, KidGusto and many more. As a DJ, Stereo. 77 is by no means a traditionalist! His DJ sets are a melting pot of multi-genre flavors soaked in Caribbean spices with a heavy dose of dance floor ready Funky Breaks!

In 2004 he started Filtered Sunshine Radio on WPRK 91.5 FM(Central Florida) Rollins College Radio, a two hour weekly program that airs every Monday evening from 11pm-1am EST, featuring rare grooves, future frequencies and everything in between.

In early 2009, Stereo. 77 signed with Research Deluxe Recordings where he will see his first solo production, The Jibaro Beat EP, released in early summer 2010. The Jibaro Beat EP is a 5 track collection of Classic Salsa, Cumbia and Latin Funk inspired grooves, referred to by Stereo. 77 as “Lo- Fi Latin Funk.”

Sumsin nos llega desde Londres con una cancion nueva, como la describe el en el correo que nos mando “es una en espanglish con una chica y es una cosita bastante reggaetontek.”  La chica viene siendo Frannie Buckles y la cancion esta interesante, quizas es un pequeño retrato del lo que se esta esuchando en Londres actualmente. Quiero compartir con ustedes un pedacito de mi viaje a Medellin este año pasado en el mes de Octubre. Como es música en lo que nos enfocamos acá en PulsoBeat, pues es música lo que les voy a mostrar. El viaje lo hice con el plan de asistir al Festival Internacional Altavoz, que el año pasado se llevo a cabo la sexta versión. Pero, como con todos los planes hay imprevistos, acá les mostrare solo un poco del talento nacional e internacional que participo.

El Festival Internacional Altavoz se hace cada año mas o menos en el mes de Octubre y son tres días llenos de buena música, a veces lluvia, y la buena vibra de la gente de la ciudad y los visitantes. Para este evento, el apoyo viene desde adentro: La Alcaldía de Medellín, la Secretaría de Cultura Ciudadana y Metrojuventud. Durante los tres días se puede escuchar todo tipo de géneros de música, desde el Heavy Metal, el HipHop, la Electronica, el Rock y todo lo demás que se te puede ocurrir. A través del festival promueven la cultura, la tolerancia y el respeto. Este año se pudo ver en vivo por television o Internet presentado por TeleMedellin.

Les cuento que fue una meta cumplida para mi asistir a este festival y fue cumplida con mucha satisfacción y agrado. Me parece que todavía queda mucho espacio para crecer y algunos detalles para mejorar, pero eso siempre es bueno. Han crecido bastante y lo seguirán haciendo porque los encargados, el talento y el publico tiene muchisimo para aportar al Festival Altavoz. Los invito a estar pendientes del festival de este mismo año y no solo participar en un movimiento cultural muy bacano; también tendrán la oportunidad de conocer una ciudad que, para mi, es de las mas bellas del mundo en todo el sentido de la palabra. Aunque no pude asistir al primer día del festival y perdí todos los vídeos grabados del tercer día, aquí les presento una pequeña compilacion del segundo día:

PRIMATEZ : Quienes Somos

Colectivo de coleccionistas de música en vinilo, ya hace más de 10 años que se han decidido agrupar para crear nuevos beats, y un estilo musical autóctono de nuestra tierra, basándose en las técnicas clásicas del tornamesismo y aplicando nuestro propio estilo. Dj Blanko, Dj DMOE y DJ A.K.A el Negro empezaron a trabajar juntos en el año 2007 intercambiando conocimientos e ideas musicales, influenciados por las raíces musicales del hip hop como el jazz, funk, latín jazz, salsa, bossa nova  y soul, también escuchando la evolución mágica del hip hop como el down tempo, trip hop, big beat, lounge, chill out y drum n bass.
Los sets  musicales del grupo Primatez están encaminados en diferentes géneros musicales; desde lo más profundo y experimental de la música hasta los beats con el sabor más latino y más Colombiano.

Gracias  a esta labor musical el grupo primatez ha llevado el tornamesisimo a otro nivel más evolucionado siendo el primer  grupo de djs en Colombia.

Got to give a big shout out to Geko Jones for showing me this video on the Dutty Artz blog. This is the best cumbia remix of  all the “Hold The Line” remixes of the  Major Lazers franchise.  The  Frikstailers Remix does the original  justice. Directed by Flamboyant Paradise; this video has the shocking retro cumbia aspects you’d expect from this Digital Cumbia Revolution.
