Miami based Llamabeats released the video of “Sick of it all,” from their upcoming album to be released real soon. Miami New Times named Llamabeats as one of “Miami’s Top Ten Underground Rap and Hip-Hop Acts.” All their projects (which usually feature a combination of live instrumentation and samples) are available for free download at their website, so there’s no excuse to not check them out… Pulso Y Pa’ Lante!

Se trata del Crew Peligrosos con la canción “Medayork,” una representación de Medellín con influencias del hip-hop de Nueva York de los ‘70. “El Graffiti, los skaters, los B.Boys, el DJ, el Subway, y otros elementos propios de esta cultura salen a relucir como parte de la cotidianidad de Medayork.“ Desde territorio paisa (Medellín, Colombia), el Crew Peligrosos está compuesto por dos MCs, dos DJs, tres artistas de graffiti, ocho break dancers y un baterista… en resumen, son una familia de artistas que llevan su show a cualquier escenario de por medio. ¡Pulso y Pa’ Lante!

Malamaña Music Collective nos presenta su más reciente sencillo “Si Tu Tiene Deso” el cual cuenta con la reconocida rapera dominicana Melymel en las vocales.  Estuvo bajo la producción de Malamaña, crew de producción conformado por Joel Berrido aka Macrofunk y Adolfo Guerrero aka Lugo Santiago (ambos ex-integrates de la reconocida agrupación Calor Urbano) los cuales han trabajado para numerosos artistas como Matthew Bandy, Don-e, Gnomico, Juan Luis Guerra, entre otros. “Si Tu Tiene Deso” es un tema que nos muestra el alto nivel de calidad que viene tomando el movimiento urbano en la República Dominicana. ¡Disfrútenlo!

TROPICALISMO: Celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month

With a foot in the Caribbean and another in the Pacific, Colombia is at the crossroads of the Americas. Its privileged geography is also a musical boon, as the confluence of African, indigenous, and European influences has produced one of the world’s greatest countries for live music – from cumbia to salsa to champeta and beyond. Based in Calí, Colombia since 2007, the UK-born Will Holland has been playing under the umbrella name Quantic for over 15 years as a producer, musician, and DJ. On Wednesday, October 12th, he will be at Fluid Nightclub for the Tropicalismo monthly to help Philly close out Hispanic Heritage Month.

Deemed “at the forefront of a new global sound” by Gilles Peterson of BBC Radio 1, Quantic has been evolving and involving various styles like funk & jazz to electronic & folk music through to Latin, reggae, dub & cumbia through his over ten-full length albums on Tru Thoughts. His latest is “The Best of Quantic) and it spans the breadth of his music. As Holland explains, “I try to make music that encourages people to explore outside of their usual listening circles and check scenes and genres they may otherwise never be exposed to.”

Jiggy Drama, la nueva sensación del género urbano alternativo acaba de terminar su gira promocional por Estados Unidos. El artista de la isla de San Andrés, Colombia viajó toda la nación, de Los Ángeles a Nueva York, promocionando su álbum “Nerdside” en varios medios impresos, digitales, televisivos y radiales. A su paso por la ciudad de Miami, el liricista paró en Vanquish Studios, donde tuvimos la oportunidad de entrevistarlo acerca de “Nerdside” y su reciente lanzamiento en territorio estadounidense.
