The label Fort Knox Recordings presents the “Bestia” EP, the Empresarios follow-up release to their debut album, “Sabor Tropical“. Having spent the past few months touring and rocking shows nationwide, the Empresarios draw on their performance experience to create these four new floor rocking gems.  The styles range from salsa and cumbia to house.  Live instrumentation is incorporated throughout the tracks including guitars, flutes, piano, congas and more. The EP starts off with “Bailando” and “Bestia“, which are both built around infectious Latin house grooves peppered with percussion, horns and electronic elements. These two tracks are guaranteed to pack the dancefloor.  Following the frenzy of the first two tracks is the laid back, sweaty tropical vibe of “Cumbia Salvaje“, which takes a traditional cumbia straight into the 21st Century. Closing out the EP is “Sentimiento“, an instant classic in the nu-salsa style of their hit track “Sabor Tropical”, paying homage to Nuyorican and Fania influences.

The Empresarios kicked off 2011 with the release of their debut album, “Sabor Tropical”.  They went on to perform numerous shows coast to coast and made a big splash at SXSW 2011.  Fort Knox Recordings released two “Sabor Tropical” Remix EP’s that have been championed by top DJs worldwide.  And most recently the Empresarios’ track “Sabor Tropical” was licensed to EA Sport’s massive FIFA 2012 video game.  Needless to say the Empresarios have had an amazing year and are ready to take their game up a level.

Hailing from Northern, New Jersey, Vasco was always exposed to many shades of society. This Latino brother of PulsoBeat keeps it real while keeping it Latino relevant.

He was raised in Hackensack, a city where the wealthy and the impoverished live within a few blocks of each other and yet exist in realities that are worlds apart from each other. His turbulent up-bringing and multi-cultural background acted as his compass through his early life. At times he found himself amongst youths who ridiculed him for being either the only “white” kid around, or amongst others, the only “spanish” kid around. Vasco says he never felt completely comfortable amongst his peers until the day his friend forced him into an emcee battle after class. “I had only started to write rhymes a few months before, so I definitely got ripped.” says Vasco. Shortly after tasting defeat, Vasco began to sharpen his battling abilities and eventually became one of the most reputable emcees in the area. After a while Vasco lost interest in emcee battles and focused his attention on writing and recording his music. His self produced mix-tapes rapidly became a hot commodity at his high school selling out on numerous occasions.

Financial hardships that needed immediate remedy combined with the time constraints of being a full time college student led Vasco to become uninspired to continue his musical journey. Vasco stopped writing/recording music for a number of years. “Eventually, I realized these urges to write my thoughts down in rhyme form would never cease, so I gave in.” says Vasco. Now, bound to his passion, Vasco is more determined than ever to prove his value to Hip Hop and create a legacy to be admired by Hip Hop heads in New Jersey as well as all Latin-Americans for years to follow.

He claims many influences that range from Biggie Smalls to Ruben Blades to Jim Morrison. However, one listen will quickly tell you he has a style and sound all his own.

Vasco is quickly becoming a name in hip hop that is synonymous with lyrical wit and hard work. Never satisfied with his output of material he is constantly writing and recording. Since teaming up with new management and a new production team in late 2009, Vasco has released 6 mix-tapes in less than a year and a half. Each tape has been applauded for showing versatile subject matter and consistent lyrical prowess. Vasco is constantly booking shows in the Tri-State area. He is currently working on a full length album do out sometime in 2011. Be on the look out for his name, as people are beginning to take notice. When you hear him, it’s not hard to realize why.

Navigating through the streets of Brooklyn, New York there exists a duo with an electro-funk-rock sound and a Latin-twist to say the least. Navegante was formed two years ago and is made up by the talents of Jean Shepherd on vocals, guitar and live programming and Washington Duke on drums. They’re sound is an electric 21st Century funk that transcends all genre-lines. We quote the legendary Carlos Santana: “ Navegante is the artist that will carry the torch into the future.”

They took residency for a year at the small Spanish Harlem club, Camaradas, to improve their breakthrough sound, and feedback has been nothing but positive. “If you don’t do shows and really test your songs and material for the people, if you don’t figure out how to get them, while you’re up there, you could practice all you want, it’s not going to make much of a difference,” Washington explains. And oh boy! wasn’t he right, their shows have everyone buzzing and have gotten attention from the music industry and media in New York City. Navegante has been featured in the New York Times, the Village Voice and New York Magazine. Santana also covered a song written by Jean on his “All That I Am” record, which Jean had the privilege of playing alongside Santana at the CD release party.

Navegante’s full-length album is planned to be released in the first half of 2011….any minute now so stay tuned! Meanwhile, you can get their EP for FREE HERE!
