Guests will be asked to contribute two or more cans of food as part of the cost of admission.

On event day they will orchestrate an “island festival” of tents that will feature new products, special drinks, foods, art, and more. In addition there will be a non-profit village with a host of foundations offering information, art & crafts village, food vending village, green partners explaining the benefits of going green, workshops, bounce houses for children, bike valet, YOGA in the park, eco village, compost village, farmers market, VIP lounge, Recycling bins will be placed throughout the venue along with signage alerting attendees to the importance of recycling.

Julián Mayorga y su “Manual para moverse libremente bajo la lluvia“… hay tantas cosas por decir, pero nada me viene a la mente. Es que hay tantos detalles, en cada espacio, en cada silencio, en cada enigmática frase que suelta, que se me truncan las ideas.

Los sonidos nocturnos envuelven la esencia de este álbum y es en una noche solitaria cuando mejor se aprecia el trabajo más reciente de este artista nacido en una “ciudad vertical” colombiana. En estos 11 temas que salieron a la luz gratuitamente el 30 de octubre de 2011, Julián Mayorga me recuerda lejanamente y cercanamente a la vez (depende de los fragmentos de canciones que se te queden pegados) a los Flaming Lips o a Wilco, dos bandas norteamericanas monumentales que siempre logran llevarte en un viaje a través de sus canciones.

Es un Manual de canciones en donde todo apunta a una nostalgia triste y sola y lo que encuentras es una esperanza melódica. Con solo leer los títulos de cada canción, ya sabrás que tienes una aventura en tus manos, lista para ser escuchada en cualquier momento. Canciones como:

Su voz, a veces desafinada con encanto, se abraza con la batería que casi no existe y los sonidos muchas veces indescifrables. Este si es un disco que fue elaborado con mucho amor al arte y te deja ese sabor rico en la boca con cada rinconcito secreto que vayas descubriendo. Está hecho para momentos particulares y específicos y tu definirás esos momentos a medida que vayas apreciando el disco. Junto con sus ilustraciones, que a mi parecer, tienen una influencia muy grande de Shel Silverstein, este manual es muy útil en enseñarte a moverte libremente bajo la lluvia, en explicar lo inexplicable, en adelantar la salida del sol mientras la noche sigue joven. Sofy Encanto and producer Andres Ponce have been spearheading the blend of Afro-Latin, artsy soul-stew called Elastic Bond since back in the days of Myspace. Along with the evolution of times, sounds and personnel, the band has since established musicians Buffalo Brown (guitar) and El David Burgos (trumpet) as co-pilots on the mothership connection. Their latest indie-hatched EP “Frecuencia Natural” has brought the band along the east coast from North Carolina, up to crowds in Williamsburg. Last summer they showcased as one of the Local Bands We Love at LAMC in NYC; even garnering airplay on KCRW, as well as overseas. According to their upcoming music video written and directed by Benito Portes, this band has also recently been to outer-space… paradise and back. The “Frecuencia Natural” music video takes us through the fantastic voyage of a cosmic star-child fallen to Earth, all while Elastic Bond throws down what the Miami New Times describes as “Danceable, loving righteousness.” Frecuencia Natural! The release is set for this Friday, December 2nd for an Art Basel afterparty premiere at PAX Miami, where the band has been holding a residency on the first Friday of the month. This special night will feature DJ sets by Mr. Brown and Y Diz, a unique performance on stilts by the actors of Prometeo Theater with original music by Elastic Bond, live painting by Dexos, art by Eddie Earthtone Vegas, Frecuencia Natural remixes, and more. Bar Man! ¡Dos cervezas por favor! Así empieza lo que es para mi, la canción más destacada del nuevo EP “Pura Vida” del artista canadiense (Montréal),Boogat.

Imagínate en un bar, pero de lo más nuevos que se hacen pasar por viejos, no como algunos tugurios que existen (que también tienen mucho que ofrecerle al color de una ciudad.) Pues Boogat pertenece a la nueva escuela de artistas desarrollando su música a través de un sonido global. Ahí te encuentras, en medio del frío invernal de Montréal, con los sonidos calientes de Boogat. “Pura Vida“, un título adecuado para este EP, pues es pura vida lo que transpira cada sonido y cada letra, suficiente para derretir el hielo eterno de este pais norteamericano, suficiente para seducirte hacia la pista de baile. Esto es música para la disco con más de una dosis de talento invertido en el proceso de producción, pues resalta de entre tantos EPs y álbumes que dicen propagar este movimiento que tiene tantos nombres. In addition to a special tribute to the life of Honorable Robert Nesta ‘Bob’ Marley and 50 years of Wailers music, this year’s Bayside Rocks will feature world music headliners The Original Wailers. Also hitting the stage are a unique group of artists whose musical brilliance is eclipsed only by its message of love and hope.

“I carefully selected this lineup because every artist has devoted his life to spreading a message that is consistent with my purpose,” said ROCKAZ MVMT president and CEO Alfonso D’Niscio Brooks. “We are all striving to change the world for the better by empowering people to make a positive difference through the universal language of music.”

According to artist Warrior King, “As a Rastafarian you just don’t sing music, you sing music with a purpose and a mission. To the four corners of the Earth I carry my music, and the message of love, to all people of all races.”

Cultura Profética

Cultura Profetica is a Puerto Rican reggae band with lyrics that center mostly on socio-political and ecological issues. Pato Banton sometimes invites his fans to join him in a prayer circle after the show and is committed to helping people “stay positive and never give in.”

Connis Vanterpool is a brilliantly talented musician who has worked with scores of international artists but is most proud of his involvement with the volunteer work he has done in the community, providing free music workshops at various elementary and secondary schools. Tabou Combo’s vocalist and main songwriter Fanfan said, “We want people to dance and forget their sorrows.” And while there is no doubt that Tabou’s music is made for dancing, it also features lyrics that focus on social issues of the day.

Gondwana, from Chile, has been spreading the word of Jah Love, standing tall and strong in a peace-loving position of musical and lyrical creation. And according to artist Luciano, “We are all children of the Most High God and I just want my family and my fans to receive the blessings that God has given.” The Wailing Souls’ Lloyd ‘Bread’ McDonald adds to this, “Apart from the musical aspect of what we are doing, we see it as a very spiritual thing. Whenever you start singing, everyone come together. The bad guys come together, the good guys come together,

everybody come together. The rich people, poor people, like one. The message what we a try to preach is love and unity.”

“Our ultimate goal is to uplift the spirit and inspire people of every ilk to give of themselves to help make the world a better place in which to live,” said D’Niscio Brooks. “We’re accomplishing this task by spreading art, culture and music while raising money to end poverty, feed the hungry and shelter the homeless.”

Tras regresar de su gira por la costa norte de Colombia, donde estableció un fuerte vínculo con la escena de cantautores de la región, Gatiyo anticipa con “Lo Máximo” su próximo trabajo: Fucsia, a lanzarse en mayo de 2012 bajo la producción del reconocido tornamesista y productor DJ Pho. Entre los teclados western, las guitarras acústicas y los arreglos de viento, escuchamos un sonido que bebe por partes iguales de influencias clásicas como la de los Beatles y de sonidos contemporáneos como el de Miranda, Babasónicos, Arcade Fire y el pop indie en general.

Por más que transite por distintas rutas musicales, la música de Mau posée desde siempre el don de la enorme sinceridad, las líricas poderosas y la fuerza de la vida bogotana. Esperamos con ansias sus nuevos sonidos para el próximo año! Pulso y Pa’ lante!

Had some awesome DJing pit stops in LA with DJ  Sloepoke, San Francisco with Don Bustamante, Roger Mas, and Kool Kyle, & Vancouver with Cherchez, Genie, and Oro 11. Ready to bring some of the west coast tropical funk!!!
