Palo!’s Afro-Cuban Funk takes over Miami…

Palo! invades the Miami scene with their “Afro-Cuban funk” ,  a combination of  Cuban music and Urban beats. Formed in 2003 by musicians Steve Roitstein, Leslie Cartaya (vocals), Philbert Armenteros (vocals, percussion), Ed Calle (sax) and Raymer Olalde (vocals, percussion). Soon enough, their funky beats infiltrated the streets of Little Havana where they started playing for local clubs, later forming part of events such as Carnaval on the Mile, and finding their way to larger audiences in Chicago and Boston. But, don’t fret, these “Paleros” aren’t leaving Miami. You can enjoy their music monthly at The Joint in Pinecrest. Also, here’s a list of other shows: http://gopalo.com/gigs/
After years of refining their sound, Palo! completed their first CD “This Is Afro-Cuban Funk”. Partnering with Philip Colodetti ‘s creative technical attributes, and the band’s extravagant sound, this CD is pure energy. Each one of the 10 songs has its own uniqueness, and they all come together into one CD that will have you off your seat and on the dance floor. Palo! stays true to their Afro-Cuban Funk genre by including percussion that gives that Cuban vibe to each song, and when that sax hits it brings that funk that sets them apart from any other Latin band in Miami. You can buy “This is Afro-Cuban Funk” at selected music stores, iTunes or any other digital store, as well as their website gopalo.com . Don’t forget to visit their website often for more info, news, and upcoming gigs!
